Introducing Inbound Exchange Student Kethlyn
Hosted by the Greece Rotary Club

My name is Kethlyn Cristina Domingos, I am 18 years old, from Mococa - Sao Paulo, Brazil.  I live with my parents and 2 dogs.  My father is a tractor mechanic, my mother is a supervisor in a large furniture store. We vacation once a year at a Brazillian beach.

My favorite food is feijoada, a typical Brazilian food made of black beans and pork.  I really like horror and thriller movies and books, my favorite author is Stephen King. In my free time I like to go out with my friends to eat, talk and play cards, especially “truco”, a popular game in Brazil.

Soccer is really important in my country, everybody stops to watch Brazil in the World Cup, even those who don’t like soccer. Although I don’t play soccer, I like to watch the leagues in Brazil to support my team Palmeiras who won the last two Libertadores (the most important championship in South America).
It is every Brazilian students dream to go on an exchange, when I won the exchange scholarship from Rotary District 4590 I knew I couldn’t say no. This experience will help me grow, deal with challenges and learn a new culture. While I’m here I hope to improve my English, watch a lot of American sports, participate in new holidays, like Halloween and Thanksgiving and make new friends.

I arrived on August 7th and I have already helped in a big Rotary event, the annual Greece Rotary golf tournament and Red Wings concessions. Some differences that I noticed here are the USA flags on people’s houses, this only happens during World Cup in Brazil, the houses here are more spaced apart with big yards and you can leave your cars outside, we can’t do that in Brazil, because it is dangerous.

I am very excited to experience life here and share my culture.
