The Rotary Club of Greece recently partnered with United Way for a community service project that brought together Greece Rotarians, representatives from the Greece Central School District, and several prospective Rotary members.
Working side-by-side, volunteers assembled 250 hygiene kits that will be distributed to students throughout the Greece Central School District. These kits contain essential personal care items that many families struggle to afford, helping ensure students have access to the everyday necessities that support health, confidence, and success in the classroom.
This project reflects Rotary's belief that small acts of service can make a meaningful impact. We are grateful to United Way for their partnership and to everyone who volunteered their time to support local students.
The need is real:
- According to the New York State Education Department, 5,932 students in Greece Central School District are classified as economically disadvantaged, representing approximately 61% of district enrollment.
- Data from the New York State Council on Children and Families shows that thousands of children in Monroe County live in families with incomes below the federal poverty level.
Something as simple as access to soap, toothpaste, shampoo, and other personal care items can remove barriers to learning and help students come to school with confidence.
